In November 2019 SWSO conducted basketball sports tournament in
Alanley Basketball Court, as part of its outreach activities. The aim
of the sports event was to convey the significance of peace and
community integration. These games have been instrumental in social
integration as well as promotion of peace and security as community
members from various backgrounds attended to cheer and support the
teams from their sections.
The girls’ basketball tournament had four teams played on 3 different
days and from 4 different basketball clubs for girls playing
basketball games from Gulwade, Shaqalaha, Farjano and Fanole sections
of Kismayo. The first 2 games were knock-out games and the third was
the final tournament played between the two qualifying teams from the
knockout.
This activity created community interaction and socialization as that
was the major objective it was organized for.
