International peace day was commemorated on 21st September 2020, at Kismayo. The event was organized by the Jubaland Ministry of Youth and Sports and SWSO in collaboration with LPI.
High profile leaders attended the event, among them were Jubaland Vice President, the Minister of Youths and Sports, and the Minister of Constitution and Federal Affairs, Parliamentarians, and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). The leaders urged everyone to focus on peacebuilding for political stability and for the sake of the country. These will later result in the achievement of peaceful co-existence among the different communities living in Jubaland and Somalia as a nation.
SWSO Executive Director Halima Farah Godane spoke at the event emphasizing the importance of International Peace Day and how peace is important today in our societies, especially Jubaland region and Somalia in general.
